Featured Paintings: "Gifts of Virtue"
My latest paintings, the "Gifts of Virtue, " draws on my own experiences in dance, and takes inspiration from the ballet Sleeping Beauty by Tchaikovsky. In the opening of this ballet, as in the fairy tale, the infant princess Aurora is having her christening, and the fairies of the realm come to present her with gifts. Each of the dancers in these paintings represents one of those gifts: Grace, Joy, Generosity, Song, Courage and Wisdom.
This is the first time that I have done a series of paintings which can either stand alone, or together as one picture.
Read more about this series in my interview with
Theatre and Dance writer Georgina Butler at:

"The Olympic Firebird."
Acrylic on Canvas.
And, while we are on the subject of ballet, here is my tribute to the ballerinas of the 2012 London Olympic Closing Ceremony, in which I had the honour to take part. Started in 2012, it lay rolled up and uncompleted for ages, until I decided to finish it this year, as it was an "Olympic" year...!
It is signed by Darcey Bussell and Cindy Jourdain of the Royal Ballet, and to accompany their names, I also added all 205 names of the dancers who took part in the show; do you know any of them? (Or are you one of them?)
